Abstract

Background: Stress is a feeling that is felt when emotional, physical, or environmental demands are not easily overcome or exceed one's power and ability to cope effectively. If the stress lasts long enough, the body will try to make adjustments so that organic abnormalities or pathological changes occur. Symptoms that appear are hypertension Objective: to know the relationship between stress levels and the incidence of hypertension in menopausal women at Puskesmas Jetis 1 Bantul, Yogyakarta. Methods: The type of research used in this study is a non-experimental quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were 147 women aged ≥ 50 years who experienced hypertension in the work area of Puskesmas Jetis 1 Bantul with 43 samples taken using a purposive sampling technique. Primary data obtained by filling out questionnaires and direct observation to measure the level of stress and the incidence of hypertension. The data obtained were then tested using Kendall's tau. Results: The results of Kendal's tau test of stress levels with the incidence of hypertension in menopausal women are 0.000 <0.05, with a closeness value of 0.562. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between stress levels and the incidence of hypertension in menopausal women Keywords: Menopausal Age Women, Hypertension, Stress Levels
